Drunk drivers threaten St. Thomas streets
Police report one driver had four times legal limit, while another blew over by almost three times.

St. Thomas police are looking for a woman who had to step out of the way of a driver who hopped the curb in the city's core.
It was one of two incidents in the space of (= during) a few hours where police allege the drivers were well over the legal limit of alcohol in their systems to be behind the wheel of any vehicle.

The first incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday night in the area of Curtis St. and East St. according to a police report.
Officers reported seeing a middle-aged woman with brown hair and wearing a blue shirt step out of the way of a vehicle as it failed to negotiate a turn and jumped the curb.
Suspect allegedly blew four times legal limit

Officers carried out a traffic stop and allege the 40-year-old male driver had four times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
He was charged with impaired driving and released with a promise to appear in court at a later date.
Police tried to speak with the woman who was almost hit but she had left the scene by the time the arrest was made.
They would still like to speak with her and any other witnesses who may have been in the area at the time.
Second suspect stopped in the morning
In the second case, police made a traffic stop early Friday morning after a someone saw a vehicle swerve into the median and hit a traffic sign on Wellington Rd. as the driver was heading into the city.
Police allege a 49-year-old woman from Kettle and Stoney Point had been drinking. When she was taken into custody to give breath samples, police allege she blew nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

She, too, was charged with impaired driving and is to appear in court at a later date.
